Red Clover is an herb that belongs to the legume plant family. It belongs to family Fabaceae. This perennial herb is commonly found in sandy and light soil throughout Europe and Asia. Its flowers range from magenta to white in color and are butterfly shaped.

Red Clover is the richest sources of isoflavones. Isoflavones are the chemicals that are water soluble and they act like estrogens. Red Clover mimics the hormone estrogen.

Leaflets : 15–30 mm (0.6–1.2 in) long and 8–15 mm (0.3–0.6 in) broad, green with a characteristic pale crescent in the outer half of the leaf; the petiole is 1–4 cm (0.4–1.6 in) long, with two basal stipules that are abruptly narrowed to a bristle-like point.

Flower : Dark pink with a paler base, 12–15 mm (0.5–0.6 in) long, produced in a dense inflorescence, and are mostly visited by bumblebees.

Fruit : The small oblong-ovoid fruit pod is retained within the withering flower and opens to shed the seeds.

Ayurvedic usage : Blood purifier, antiseptic, anti-asthmatic, cancer inhibiting

Related medicinal properties : Balances Pitta and Kapha doshas but increases Vata dosha slightly.
