Nepenthes distillatoria is a tropical pitcher plant endemic to Sri Lanka. It was the second Nepenthes species to be described in print and the first to be formally named under the Linnaean system of taxonomy. It is therefore the type species of the genus.

Flower : Pitchers yellow, pink or more rarely bright purple.Flowers about 1 cm across,in large panicles (about 40 cm).Outside pubescent, glabrous within, Male and Female flowers on separate plants.

Ayurvedic usage : Oedema of the Foot, Whooping Cough, Abscess

Height : 0.5m or above

Leaves : Foam cups, often richly coloured, which become filled with water and small insects, covered by a lid in hot weather; water is sometimes present before opening; the insects gradually form a decaying mass, which emits a strong odour and probably serves as a fertilizer
