Firetail (පූස් නකුට)

Firetail Chenille member of the spurge family is named for the French word for caterpillar, chenille, and will provide textural interest and crimson accents in your sunny flower garden and bouquets. The genus acalypha is one of the members of the Euphorbiaceae family, which is a treasure trove of ornamental plants for the flower gardener: think poinsettia, croton, and castor bean, among others.

Flower : Pistillate flowers (female part) which are 0.7 millimeters long and range in color from purple to bright red, and grow in clusters along catkins.

Ayurvedic usage : A. hispida, the chenille plant or red-hot cat’s tail, is cultivated as a houseplant for its interesting flowers. It earned the Royal Horticultural Society’s Award of Garden Merit.
